All Ohio Catholic Championships
Kettering -The Toledo Central Catholic Men and the Rocky River Magnificat Women captured the Championship Titles at the 9th Annual All-Ohio Catholic Cross Country Championships, hosted by Dayton Carroll High School.The Irish of Central Catholic used a strong pack to score a low 60 points and claim the title among a very competitive field.Cleveland St. Ignatius took the runner-up spot with 79 points, followed by St. Xavier (108), Toledo St John (110), and Dayton Carroll (149) to round out the top five.Tom Middleton of Dayton Carroll powered to a new meet record of 15:51 in claiming the individual title.In the women’s race, Magnificat ran a strong race to take the title by a five point margin over Cincinnati St Ursula.Beaumont's Maggie Infeld ran away from a very tough field to set a new meet record of 18:07.
In the Varsity races, comprised mainly of Division II-III schools, Canton Central Catholic, led by individual champion Tom Roof (16:50), successfully defended their 2002 title with a 7 point victory over runner-up Columbus Desales.Central Catholic also won the women’s varsity division, beating Dayton Chaminade-Julienne 43-81.Syd Hubbard of Fisher Catholic captured individual honors in 20:13.
The host Carroll Patriots placed fifth in the Men’s Championship Division and tenth in the Women’s Championship.The Patriot men were led by individual champion Tom Middleton..He was followed by Mike Hogg, 30th in 17:29, Todd Holbrook, 34th in 17:36, Alec MacEachern, 41st in17:44, Vince Hartman, 43rd in 17:46, Aaron Beach, 44th in 17:48, and Ryan Eifert, 50th in 17:52.For the Lady Pats, Katie Hutcheson cracked the top ten with a 7th place finish in 19:39.She was followed by freshman sensation Jordon Jennewine, 29th in 20:27, Frances Krumholtz, 52nd in 21:22, Rebecca Minardi, 60th in 21:35, Marty Jenkins, 62nd in 21:39, Andrea Timm, 85th in 22:40, and Kelly Kasten, 96th in 25:33.
