Team/Parents,

Team/Parents,

A few more details about the State Meet activities:

Thursday, Nov 3 - All team members are invited to the Spaghetti Warehouse (36 West 5th Street, Downtown Dayton) at 6:00 for a pasta party for Ryan. Please reply to this e-mail if you plan to attend, so we will have an estimate of the number coming.

Friday, Nov 4 - 9:30 (note different time) we will be leaving Carroll for the State Meet course at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH (east of Columbus). We will be running a time trial for anyone interested. I especially encourage all non-seniors, who aspire to compete at the State Meet next year to come and see/run the new State Meet course. Please reply to this e-mail if you plan to come. We will probably be going in vans driven by the coaches. We should be back to Carroll by around 3:30.

Saturday, Nov 5 - 9:30 the Spirit Bus will be leaving Carroll. The Spirit Bus is for all team members and any other Carroll student who would like to come show their Patriot Spirit. Ryan races at 2:15 and we will be able to watch many of the other races as well. The State Meet attracts crowds in excess of 10,000, making it the largest attended cross country event in the nation. Come experience the thrill! We should be back at Carroll around 6:00.

Please try to attend these events and support your teammate!

Team/Parents,

Team/Parents,

Congratulations to the Patriot Men and Women Cross Country teams who finished their season on Saturday at the Regional Championships.  Both teams ran strong races as the Lady Patriots finished 14th and the men were 8th.  Ryan Dull ran a gutsy PR to finish 16th and qualify as an individual for the State Meet - Congratulations Chuck!

Ryan and Steven both PR'd and our other 5 guys were all within 10 seconds of their season best time.  We are disappointed not making it to state as a team, but it was a great effort to be proud of!  Brent fought hard, but narrowly missed qualifying.  Definitely disappointing, but I am incredibly proud of the heart, persistence, leadership, maturity, and class that Brent has shown during his high school career.  He has been challenged by numerous set-backs from injuries to illnesses and he has always come back even stronger.  I know that Brent's persistence will pay off with incredible success in the near future.

The women's team also had a very solid performance especially considering the health challenges they had to overcome.  We still had two PRs by Colleen and Emily Penn.  Taylor once again led our team and although she was disappointed in not making it to State, I am very proud of her.  Taylor has handled the incredibly difficult challenge of being a soccer and cross country standout.  It takes a special person to train and compete at a high level in two sports and also be in the top few of the class academically.  I am confident that she will also have many great races in her future.

All team members are invited and encouraged to train with us this week as Ryan prepares for the State Championships.  We will be taking a bus to the state meet course on Friday and holding a time trial for all our athletes.  This is especially valuable for any of our runners who aspire to compete at State next year.  We will also take a bus to the State meet on Saturday.  All team members should come and support your teammate!
